Whalerock Industries was engaged by the MTV team to concept an innovative digital solution that appealed to their younger demographic. The final deliverable was a multi-platform solution encompassing short form content, linear TV, live streaming and gaming.
The design team worked closely with the product managers on understanding the overall goals at MTV. The main objective was to build a digital platform that not only engaged a younger audience but also helped support their linear TV shows. Each category on the app represents a key show that is related to either fashion, music, and sports and is supplemented with a series of short form content produced by influencers within each industry.

Mini games are featured throughout the app. Trump Shower is one of the games that I concepted and designed. It's essentially a bald Trump at the bottom of the screen that's controlled by the users thumb and is slid side to side to catch blonde wigs as they fall from the sky. Players score bonus points when they catch other wigs such as afros and pigtails.
Live Streaming & User Participation
Pass the Aux is a concept featured within the "music" category "yo MTV raps". Users can tune into a live event where music is being played and be apart of the DJing experience in the comfort of their own homes. Below is an example of a live event where users are made aware through moving music frequency at the bottom along with a live feed that instantaneously starts to play as the user scrolls past.
After the user has clicked into the live event they are "passed the aux" at random and can chose to participate. They are then asked to select a series of song within a certain time frame which get added to the DJ's queue.
